I bring up my dead husband at every single book club meeting. Every one! Even though none of the women in the group knew him. I guess we just happen to read a lot of books that touch on grief?

I also keep a half-used stick of his deodorant in my nightstand. That’s probably disgusting but I don’t care.

Can I just say… I used my Dad’s deodorant!! And then kept buying that brand for myself for a while.

I love both of these things so much. And you.

I have my mom’s makeup bag with all of her makeup still in it. I don’t use it, but I’ll never throw it away. It’s tucked away in a drawer in the bathroom.

We have a picture of 2 dogs we lost 3 years ago on our mantle and their ashes are in the nightstand to be buried with my husband. My dad's business card is in my tool box. The magnet sign that was on his truck with his company name is on the side of the tool box. Whatever keeps them close is fine with me.

I forgot about the pet grief things I do until I saw your comment! One of my kid’s middle names is the name of the dog we lost while I was pregnant!

I keep a pencil holder I made when I was three that sat on my Dad’s desk for decades. I have a poetry collection my mom had - and let me write notes in when I was in 5th grade. I regularly read one of the poems.

I wear my mom's bracelets, necklaces and some of her clothes. I also have a pair of her pajamas that don't fit, but I don't care. My 22-year-old daughter also kept some of her clothes and wears them regularly.

I kept my mom’s hairbrush with her hair in it. I don’t plan on ever using it or ever letting it go.

You don't ever want to be normal because that's as crazy as it gets.
